On May 14, 2020 Black Mountain Plumbing installed a Flo by Moen water leak detection system that measures the water flow to the house. The Flo by Moen is a smart water meter that monitors water usage in our home, tests our system for leaks, and protects against water damage with an automatic shutoff feature and remote. Additionally, we would get a text message and phone call to announce any water detection abnormality. Then, it shuts off the water to the house.
Black Mountain Plumbing sent John and another technician to complete installation of the system John had recommended for our house. (We purchased the Flo by Moen System separately). John came out the day after our system was delivered.
When providing his initial quote for installation, John thought the system would be installed outside the garage and would require a little re-piping. However, upon coming out for installation, he saw we had a whole-home water filtration system and suggested installing the leak detection system next to the filtration system in a manner that would prevent the filtration system’s flushing process from registering unusual water usage in the leak detection system. In addition to avoiding incorrect water usage readings, installation in this manner would reduce the cost of installation due to less re-piping. This saved us about $250 versus the original quote. We greatly appreciate John’s attention to this detail and providing the best connection and at a cheaper installation cost.
Black Mountain Plumbing was efficient and professional with this process. John made sure we had our leak detection system up and running with the Flo by Moen app on my smartphone. We are pleased with the advice and service Black Mountain Plumbing provided for this project and are relieved that we will be protected from major water damage should a leak take place.
