Two drawbacks.

1. Using new, or at least, low-mileage replacement parts will cut Car Shield expenses in half in the long run and save the customer a lot of redundant hassel.

Also, the time it takes to deliver the covered part to the shop should be added to car rental coverage.
For example, if it takes a week to deliver a replacement transmission to the shop, the car rental coverage should be for three weeks, instead of only two weeks.
This would be a gracious gesture toward loyal customers.

Because, there is the 2-3 days of Car Shield assessment and approval, coupled with waiting on delivery of the part, plus the day-or-two for arranging pick-up.
In these circumstances, two week coverage on the rental is not enough.
