Poor Service

I am very disappointed in my previous service on my hot water heater. The technician checked breakers, thermostats, heating elements and nothing wrong. He jiggled the on and off switch on the wall and the water heater came on. He then charged me 60 bucks and said call an electrician.
The electrician came took the cover off and the switch was melted. Something simple a technician should have checked. I had to wait 2 days to get an electrician. And, I had to pay another 90 bucks to change out the switch.
The technical from Benjamin Franklin should have checked this more thoroughly.

Sidney, for good reasons the codes require that one be trained and licensed to do what ever work we do. It takes a minimum of 2 years just to get a tradesman plumbing license and another year to get a journeyman's. An electricians license is much the same so seldom do find one technician in a truck that is licensed in both trades. So even if we did do electrical work we would have had to charge you to come out and change the switch that our plumber is not qualified nor licensed to do. I understand your frustrations but we really have no way of knowing what the problem is with out making a site visit. Had it been a faulty element or thermostat on the water heater code would have allowed us as plumbers to replace those components but we are not allowed to replace switches or breakers.
