Misleading, deceptive, and overpriced

The puppy I bought is great. He came underweight and with a cold. I was told the take home kit for the puppy was included with the price of the puppy. However, when I received the receipt the puppy and kit were listed separately. When I asked about this I was told that the whole price was for the puppy and kit! Then, I asked if they were going to wash him up before he goes because he had a stench and had just taken a his bathroom break in the little meeting area. The sales person looked at me as if I had just started speaking Japanese. Furthermore, that free first vet visit is not free. You tell you to bring in a stool sample then charge for the testing and for deworming just incase. The AKC use Third Party Pet for all of their resources. They called me and offered me 2 blankets and the puppy's birth certificates along with some other things. I thought this was going to be free. Then the lady tell me the cost is $279 plus shipping. I go ahead and purchase it and come to find out shipping $70 and will take 2-4 weeks. Something I didn't know until I received my receipt via email. I called back and immediately cancelled! I gave my total experience 3 stars because the puppy is amazing and is going to be an amazing addition to my family.

We appreciate your business and your review. For 25 years Petland Naperville has provided the highest quality puppies and we are very sad to hear of your disappointment. Fortunately, we do provide a 30 day viral and 18 month congenital/hereditary warranty with every puppy. We do not offer a puppy to the public until our veterinarian states in writing the puppy is healthy and we provide this to you. Just like children though, puppies do get sick and our warranty is in place to pay for any and all medical bills that might be related to a cold. When we sell a puppy, they do come with a Take Home Kit that eases the transition and provides what you need as a new dog owner. On the receipt, we have to break this out so that we can track live animals vs. merchandise so that our inventory levels are accurate in the computer. You were charged the same price you were quoted. The first vet visit is free and there is no charge for the health checkup. You are charged for the fecal exam, heartguard medication and any vaccines that might be due - no different than if you went to any veterinarian. Third Party Pet contacted you to assist in registration for your puppy, remind you about the free insurance through AKC, and generally determine if you have any questions and if you are happy with your purchase. They do offer additional items for sale including blankets and most customers appreciate that the service exists. We are sorry you viewed it as a solicitation and were not happy with the follow up. It seems we struck out on many levels with you and hope you will forgive us. We are glad you think the puppy is in your words "amazing" and hope you have many years of joy with your new family member provided by Petland Naperville.
