I was actually verbally abused by the doctor here at the Portland Clinic. She was extremely unhappy that I didn't have a referral from my doctor. I had to explain to her that because of my insurance, that I did not need a referral. She proceeded to tell me "well you came in here, you may even be seeing the wrong specialist". She told me, "I didn't have an 'exotic' disease", and she said this more than once. When she was entering my information into a computer, she glared at me. The whole visit, she acted uninterested in treating my condition. I think she thought that because I am an older person, she can treat me however she wants to. She even told me my symptoms were "age-related". She had a smirk on her face when she said this. Some of her medical assistants even were rude to me. She wants me to come back in six weeks, and I will not be returning to her. I will not choose another specialist at that clinic either. I just will not be going back there period. From now I will stick to my doctor.
