Let me be brief and clear rather than vitriolic: This is a wonderful concept of marginal Chinese build quality with serious, serious, supply chain problems. I have now been waiting for 6 months for the battery that is supposed to be replaced under the recall initiated by Pedego. In the interim, the bike is unusable. The dealer is frustrated; I am frustrated; Pedego is full of crocodile tears but no action. I proposed that they send replacement bikes to dealers for affected customers, then sell them as demos. I proposed sending replacement batteries from existing stock. I proposed offering affected customers some monetary compensation in the form of discounts or coupons. All fell on deaf ears and were met with, "We're doing all we can and we'll let you know when the batteries arrive." This is simply a poor business model. If you are going to sell a questionable product with a fragile supply chain, you need to find a better way to stand by your customers than to leave them without a workable product for 6 months and into the foreseeable future. I spent $2600 on a bike I cannot ride. I would invite Pedego to make a real life video of the happy retirees who grace their glossy brochures trying to ride their sixty pound Pedegos without battery power. Or, better yet, spend some of that advertising budget on serving the customers they already have so they don't end up with comments like this. Bottom line, Pedegos are okay bikes, interesting in concept but not as resolved in execution as other electric bikes. I sill like my Pedego (or, at least, what I remember of it). But if I were to do it again, I would spend my $2600 on a more reliable product from a more responsive company with a stronger track record.
