Questionable work - They will charge you more to fix their mistakes

I encountered issues with the opening of my garage door in March 2013. I called Garage Door Services (GDS) and stated my issue and they sent a technician out to my property on March 29th 2013.

My garage doors were making a lot of noise and buckling as it came up and down. The technician (Grant) looked at the door and said the springs needed to be replaced, as well as the rollers and the doors needed to be rewired. Total cost was $485.57. I approved the repairs and paid GDS.

Approximately 2 weeks ago (August 2013) my garage doors began to experience the same issues (making a lot of noise and buckling as it came up and down). I called GDS and they sent a new technician out.

He (Michael Cruze) asked why the previous GDS tech installed new springs, rollers, as that doesn't solve the core problem, it only masks it. To solve it, a torsion system needed to be installed, which costs $440. He said that he could replace the springs, but that I would experience the same issue in a few months.

I called GDS customer service on September 3rd and spoke to Star. She said that she was sorry and GDS was going to do right for me. After speaking to her manager, they said that they would give me a credit for the springs ($160) but needed me to pay $340 for the new system.

I am disappointed with GDS - I paid close to $500 for them to solve a problem (since they are the experts), however they never solved the problem. They went with the spring setup, never told me of the torsion system and charged me for this. Now they want me to pay additional funds of $340 to solve their mistakes.

I would not want anyone to deal with this business. Find yourself a better garage door installer in your area, and skip GDS. They are not a trustworthy, and will not work in your best interests.
