Having to dump several hundred $ worth of service charges into 3yr old HVAC unit from RT

3yrs ago Rocky Top sold me and installed a new $13k HVAC unit they claimed was more than sufficient to cool my 2000 sq ft home. This is only my 3rd summer with this unit and it struggles to keep my house at a normal set temp of 74 degrees. The last time it had regular maintenance service was approx a yr and a half to 2 yrs ago. Just last month I had to pay $200 for a serviceman to come and inspect my HVAC when I had a weekend of 80 degrees in the house with the AC on full blast. He said my HVAC was leaking freon but he didn't have time to identify the leak. So he put $200 worth of freon in that he said would easily last the Summer. This would allow me to save $ to have him come back out, inspect, identify leak, and order parts. This is all something by the way that Rocky Top told me could range anywhere in costs from an additional $200 to $800 depending on the problem. (this is only for labor as my parts are still covered under manufacturer warranty). Bottom line, be sure to maintain a service contract to catch issues such as this early, however a brand new $13k HVAC unit should NOT be leaking that much freon after only 3 yrs (which seems more like a problem resulting from shoddy installation than it would be a common problem after 3yrs of normal use). On top of all this, the $200 of freon lasted all of a month, and my home is again heating up to 80 during the day with therm set at 74 degrees. I am currently shopping around for a different HVAC servicer as a result of these astronomical charges. As a side note, I posted this same review over a week ago and is mysteriously disappeared...

Mr. Del Toro
We at Rocky Top are very sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. We strive to give our customers the best experience possible with every job we do. After looking through your file it does show that you requested not to continue your maintenance agreement with us. In no way am I saying this is why you had the issue. But with the maintenance agreements it allows us to be pro active instead of re active on these types of situations. If the unit was struggling to keep up I would have liked for you to notify us and we would have been more than happy to do whatever was needed to make it right. With a package unit we are not required to connect any copper lines or open the system in any way as all the connections are made from the factory. Thus why The manufacturer offers a hefty warranty with their product. So to blame install I find unfair. Unfortunately mechanical systems do fail from time to time and we here at Rocky Top are sorry you are having trouble. Please feel free to reach out to us here and let me help you come to a resolution for this issue. Thank you for your business and time to leave us a review.
