Renaissance Windows & Door

Neuma patio door installation

At our first meeting, Wayne Culver and his associate from Renaissance brought door and window samples to my home. He called to confirm, and they were on time.

I wanted to replace the master bedroom windows upstairs and the rear entry patio doors, which consisted of one operating door and a stationary door. From my research of replacement windows and doors, I had decided on fiberglass, although I was still uncertain of which configuration. I also wanted to get rid of a very narrow transom window above the doors if possible. I have high ceilings downstairs, so the possibility of 8-foot doors was appealing.

My old doors, which were not the original doors, had been installed before I bought the home and were wider than the original sliding glass door opening. Every time I turned the doorknob from the outside, I hit my knuckles on the doorframe. I had assumed that there would be brickwork involved in a door replacement to correct the problem. Wayne explained that the correct door size would eliminate the problem. He also told me that a wood Colonial 3.5" trim would cover the missing sheetrock on the interior. That was such a relief. (Two years earlier, Id had a painter/sheetrock contractor look at the problem. That guy never mentioned that the doors I had were too big for the opening. I am so glad I waited.)

Wayne and I went outside to look at the brick and consider window colors. He offered practical advice on the different options on the upstairs windows as well as one opening onto the front porch. I never felt rushed or pressured, even though our meeting was after work hours.

Wayne left a written quote that day. When I called him with more questions over the next couple of days, he quickly responded. I made a decision within a couple of days, and Wayne made another after-hours appointment to come to my home to deliver the final proposal. Once again, he confirmed the appointment and arrived on time.

I opted to wait on the windows for the time being, so the final proposal was for the 8-foot Neuma fiberglass French door system with the Low-E laminated impact glass. On his advice, I chose the doors to open toward the outside since they are more secure with high winds. The quote included removal and hauling away of the old doors and transom window, as well as trimming the exterior with composite and, if necessary, textured siding to match existing Hardi-plank siding. The interior would be trimmed with 3.5 Colonial molding.

The installation was a wonderful experience. Two installers arrived on time. They laid tarps inside and taped them down. They hung clear plastic from the ceiling with support poles to keep the construction dust on their side, not to keep me from seeing what they were doing. They worked efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. My doors have a lifetime warranty and are beautiful to behold.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Renaissance Windows and Doors and would definitely choose to do business with them in the future.
