Was hesitant to call due to the bad reviews, but after calling at least ten companies, all of which couldn’t send sooner than 3 days, I revisited the Speedy site and seeing a five star review I called. The woman who answered was pleasant, recognized our emergency and sent a tech over in less than an hour and a half. His name was Matt and he was extremely competent and pleasant and honest. After checking the entire system, his diagnosis was the air flow vents from freezer to refridge were blocked with ice.
His advice was to keep the unit off completely
for one day to let the ice melt, I asked if a hairdryer would help, but he said the vents were so packed with ice that He couldn’t be sure that all the ice was gone.
The best way is his advice to power down.
We transferred as much food as we could to our daughter’s fridge & freezer shut down power and waited. Now the unit is fine.
Matt could have charged us for things that weren’t needed like Freon or parts and we wouldn’t have been the wiser. The charge was a reasonable service call. We will definitely recommend them.
