Suburban Veterinary Clinc

Run! Do not walk to the next veterinarian.

We just had to put our cat down yesterday. She was 19 years old. We took her to Suburban Veterinary Clinic as an emergency. We were told to bring her in and leave her there after a $200.00 deposit. When we brought her in we were told the doctor would fit her in as soon as possible and that he would call us. I was told to sign a release form which I never checked doing any blood work or any test and was told the doctor would discuss that with me after his exam. I called about 21/2 hours later and was told the doctor was examining her now and would call me soon. We decided to wait in the lobby and was looked at as if we had no right to be there. The doctor finally came out to see us an hour and a half later. We were told that the blood work showed everything was fine. That she needed some fluids, a B12 shot and an anti-inflammatory for a total of $391 plus dollars. That she probably had a neurological problem that they could not deal with. We were told to take her home and see how she was in a couple days. That diagnosis did not seem right at all so their treatment plan was refused. After an additional $88 plus dollars in addition to the deposit, we left and went to an animal hospital not far away and not recommended by them.

At the hospital we found her glucose was so low she should have been in a comma, and that she had kidney disease within 15 minutes. This was determined from a copy of the blood work that Suburban had done without my consent or being informed was needed. Needless to say, our cat was so severely ill that she had to be put down, devastating both myself and my daughter. When I called them to inform them of my cat's outcome their response was, "What do you want me to do now?"

Suburban was willing to let us take our cat home to die and get $400.00 in the process. If you love your pet at all, even a little bit, never ever take them there. You are putting a family member at stake.
