All Purpose Plumbing

Friendly plumber but expensive and not helpful

I would like to cancel our membership in the monthly home club program.

We have found your plumbing expensive and restrictive. It seems jobs are required to be done in a specific way with no wiggle room. For example it would have been nice to have the under sink plumbing completed part way so we could temporarily plumb a sink until our counters arrived. I was told this was not possible. Also he couldn't start the dishwasher until all the cabinets were in, which made the dishwasher plumbing more difficult. We are using Ikea cabinets which have open space underneath, but he said he couldn't do it.

The ice maker was the last straw. He did not have a small part to connect the hose to the refrigerator. He said it was a user supplied part that should have come with the refrigerator. When I explained we purchased it from sears outlet and it did not come with that part he still would not or could not make the connection. I asked if the part was expensive and he said about a dollar. But he would not connect it. I had to call sears to come do it. Which they did for no charge. The sears guy had a pocket full of that part. He said he always needs them to hook up an ice maker.

It was frustrating to require 2 repair visits for one job. We paid over $300 to hook up the ice maker and he refused to do the last step so we did without it for another week waiting for a sears service call. If he needed a part he should have gone to get it.

I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with our service. We strive for happy repeat customers and as you can see by reading all the reviews from Customer Lobby that most of the reviews are from thrilled customers who received fantastic service from a professional company - which is a rare thing in the plumbing world.
As the Owner of the company I would just like to respond to your comments to help clear these up.
Your first comment said our service was expensive and restrictive. We don't know as a company what else we can do as far as the expensive comment, we always give all our pricing BEFORE WE DO ANY WORK and the customer decides if they would like to proceed. If they think it is too expensive at the time of service they certainly do not have to continue if they don't want to, we do not twist anyone's arm to do service. The customer can stop anywhere in the service process if they feel they need to. Our prices are based on what it takes to give exceptional plumbing service to our customers while paying wages, taxes, and all it takes to run a reputable business with the best trained plumbers in the area. We are a true 24 hour plumbing service company with a plumber ready to go at all times. We are fully insured, do inventory control, office management, software systems, training, etc., to bring the best service possible to our customers. How much more fair can a company be? Our prices are given BEFORE and they are consistent no matter what neighborhood we are in. We don't jack up our prices depending on who we are servicing.
As far as the restrictive comment. Our plumbers are trained to follow procedure for many reasons. They are not amateurs and can instantly tell the best way to proceed with a project based on years of experiance and proper procedure. By following these rules and codes we protect the home owners from many issues they might not be aware of. That also protects the company from wrong business pratices. We can't always do exactly what the customer thinks we should because we are professionals and need to consider these things on every job. We always try to explain exactly why we need to proceed in the way that is best for the customer and up to plumbing code, so when we are done we have a great product with a backed up written guarantee.
About the icemaker comment being the last straw. The $300 charge for the icemaker was NOT just to hook it up but we ran a new icemaker line for the fridge where there was not one pre-existing. This is alot of work by a licensed plumber with many years of experience, with all that experience it looks quick and easy. The plumber would have loved to complete this job by hooking it up to the fridge but a part was missing from the fridge that was necessary for us to hookup the newly ran ice maker line to the fridge. We were told the fridge was purchased from the SEARS outlet store and the part wasn't with the fridge. Our vans carry over $10,000 of parts inventory so we don't have to chase parts for plumbing service, which wastes the customers and the companies time. We do not carry or chase parts for refrigerators, dishwashers, etc. that the Owners have purchased as this could be an all day process. We are not an appliance repair company and do not stock appliance parts on our vans. We told the customers they needed to have SEARS supply the part for their fridge and we would gladly come back and make the hookup for them. This is one of the company procedures I mentioned earlier to protect the home Owners and the company. Ice maker leaks are on the top ten list of why home owners call their insurance companies for water damage claims. People think it is an easy thing and we see many leaks and water damage to floors, etc., from these "easy" lines installed improperly. We don't feel it was unreasonable to have the Owners get the missing fridge part from SEARS and have us come back and hook it up properly with a written guarantee. We see from your comment you did call SEARS for the part and they came and hooked it up as they are the ones to have the part for their fridge. Our plumber who did this job called the husband after he called the office with a complaint that the fridge was not hooked up at the time we were on the job. Our plumber wanted to explain to him, as was explained to his wife at the time, who understood from the plumber what needed to be done. Two voice mails were not returned. Instead, they called SEARS and then wrote this review of dissatisfaction. Once again, we are dissapointed and sorry for your dissatisfaction but feel we did everything in our power to provide professional plumbing service like we always do and are known for.
Thank you, STEVE LEAL, OWNER.
