AAMCO Transmissions

Quick but expensive service

This was the first time I worked with AAMCO Transmissions. My main issue with them was that I didn't expect the price to be as high. The reason why I rated them highly in my willingness to recommend them was because they rebuilt the transmission on my Ford Econoline quickly.

I called a few other places and they said the service would take 3-4 days. AAMCO had my van back to me in 24 hours. I was slightly skeptical of the quick service, but everything works, and the staff was friendly.

I rated their communication low because I was charged for a bunch of additional parts, that I had thought were part of the full transmission rebuild price.

Ms. Smith,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for the confusion that occurred during your experience with this shop.

Each transmission rebuild service price is made up of multiple elements.

The “base price” is the first part of the price, which you refer to in your comments as the "full transmission rebuild price".

The “base price” includes all of the labor and the soft parts (rebuild kit and filter) needed to overhaul a transmission. The “base price” does not include the “torque converter”, “hard parts” (machined steel and aluminum parts), or any “electronic components” that may be needed to ensure a quality repair of your transmission. It was the additional cost associated with these items that resulted in the additional costs you mention in your feedback,

The “torque converter”, “hard parts” and “electronics” are not included in the “base price”, because we do not know whether the “torque converter”, or any “hard parts” and/or “electronics” will be needed until we torn down and inspect your transmission once it is out of the vehicle, and inspect the parts inside it for wear or damage.

We do our best to explain our pricing to each and every customer on the front end of the process, and before any work is performed in an effort to avoid confusion. Unfortunately, it is clear from your feedback that we failed with you. We will use your feedback to improve how we explain our pricing to future customers.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback to us.

Sincerely
AAMCO of Charlotte
