I had problems with my transmission and originally took my Mercedes to the dealer, Mercedes of Orange Park who wanted to charge me $6,400 claiming I needed a new transmission. I wanted a 2nd opinion because they wanted $1,000 down before they started the work and I had my doubts. I told them I had recently changed my radiator, which has a transmission line. It is easier to change the transmission out vs repairing it. The Mercedes was diagnosed and it was learned I ONLY needed 5 quarts of transmission oil, the transmission was low on fluid, which cost $225.
