Joseph Boyd, owner of King Appliance Service came out to my property to assess a refrigerator issue. His diagnoses was that it was a "Freezer Temperature Control" problem that made the fridge stop cooling. At this point, he never moved the refrigerator to look behind or around, and diagnosed it very quickly. He said that in order to move forward, he'd need to order the part. I agreed, due to his urgency. The invoice that he gave me stated that I must pay for the repair 50%, which included the ordered part and was non-refundable. The next day, I had to cancel the service repair, due to illness (cancer), and asked if he would refund any portion of the the 50% ($193.00), that was paid. He refused. I then called, and in great detail explained the reason for the cancellation, and told him that I understand his no-refund policy, however, because I had already paid for the part, I would like to pick up the part. He refused, adamantly, and stated that because he had paid shipping on the part, I was not entitled to it. He then proceeded to, very rudely, tell me how he didn't care what my medical issues were, and that his business decision was not going to change. HE was entitled to the refund for the part, for his inconvenience, and was going to keep the money for that reason. No repair was ever done; only a diagnosed, which should constitute a trip charge, at most. After a 2nd opinion, which I did not share with him, the diagnoses was completely WRONG. It was a cord in BACK of the fridge, whicH, again, he never even considered. His pressure to make a decision on the repair was unprofessional, and his ability to take advantage of a person who is CLEARLY ill, is a stark example of the kind of person who should not work with the public. BUYERS BEWARE!

All of our technicians are trained not to encourage or discourage any repair, but to serve by answering questions and performing quality work. We do require a 50% non-refundable deposit for special order parts because not all parts can be returned. If any client ever needs time to think about the repair, simply pay the service call and call us back when you are ready.
