Do Not Use Them!

This was not our first time using America's Plumbing Co, Inc. but it will be our last. I have had them come out a few times for my Mom and each time I find that their company corporate policy to try to upsell or overcharge clients is getting to be a huge problem. On this last visit I had them come out to clean out her sewer line but they would not guarantee their work. They also tried to upsell and get her to agree to a hydro wash which she did not need. She is 87 years old and I feel they are trying to take advantage of her by getting her to agree to things that are unnecessary. Prior to that, she had them come out to work on the garbage disposal. We had a top of the line Waste King disposal and they "claimed" they would not work on parts they did not install. They convinced her they would need to install a new unit. They installed a Badger disposal which is a fraction of the cost of what the Waste King was and not nearly as efficient. Another time she had them come out to work on the kitchen faucet which is a very nice Delta faucet. They again said they would not work on something they did not install. To me that says that their plumbers do not know what they are doing if they cannot work on equipment that is already installed. The faucet only needed a new gasket. Gaskets are widely available and easy to get. He wanted to charge two hours of drive time to get to the hardware store to get a gasket and come back. In addition, he claimed that there were too many piping threads that would not work with the nozzle so he wanted to charge for a new faucet for $400 instead of a gasket and a piping thread. The piping threads are universal so he was trying to pull the wool over her eyes and mine because I have made sure to be there when they come out now for their common practice of overcharging. The only good thing I can say is that they did show up on time and they were respectful of her property, however, with their common practice of trying to upsell or overcharge an elderly client I feel it is not good business practice and I will not have her use them again. What is my advice? Do not use America's Plumbing Co, Inc.!
