Quakertown Veterinary Clinic

This company is only looking out for themselves and not your pet!

First time coming here with my puppy. They pumped her up full of shots she didn’t need took blood work that was not needed and just hands me a huge bill. Not even days later my puppy starts coughing chills won’t eat and barely can stand! I take her to another vet that actually was looking out for my dogs interest not there own interest and she was literally shocked how many shots they gave my dog and best part was not one wasn’t needed!!! The entire visit at Quakertown animal hospital was more about pushing pet insurance and pumping my dog full of shots than to really care about the well being of my dog. Still not sure if my dog will be ok. Hopefully others will read this and not bring their pets here! It’s a shame the last owner to this place was amazing...he cared about the well being of your pet

We were so disappointed to receive this review, apologies if you didn’t understand the importance of vaccinating your puppy. As our Dr. explained - your 8 month old puppy (which you have owned from 9 weeks old) needed vaccines, the one DHLP/P vaccine she received from her "breeder" is not adequate to keep your puppy safe. Also a Rabies shot is required by law. We boostered her Distemper Parvo vaccine (Distemper and Parvo are deadly diseases) and we gave her a Rabies vaccine (Rabies is also deadly). We understand you had not taken your dog to a vet before so may have been unaware of exactly what you need to do to keep her safe and protected and healthy, as well as other dogs she may interact with. She also received a Bordatella nasal vaccine. (Kennel Cough) The bloodwork you referred to in your review was a Heartworm test, - with a combination of tick borne disease tests including Lyme. (Heartworm and tick diseases can also be deadly). We provided you with a FREE first dose of Heartworm Med and a FREE safe Flea/tick product, as your pet has not been protected adequately up until her first vet visit to us as you described finding ticks on her. We also advised you to spay your dog who is currently in heat and we provided you with information about Pet Insurance as it can help people who may have trouble financially looking after their pet or if your pet should get sick. If your puppy was shaking days later and has the chills please take her to a reputable vet as she most certainly could be having complications from any of the diseases she wasn’t adequately protected from or from the OTC flea product you had used before. Vaccine reactions don’t happen days later, they are fairly immediate or within 12 hours or so. We hope this information helps. If you would like us to discuss your puppy with your other (new) - vet, we would like to be able to help them understand the vaccine protocol for a young dog. Please have them call us. We again apologize if you mistook our excellent healthcare and attempt to educate you about responsible pet ownership as anything other than that. We do appreciate the chance though to reiterate our advice. Please let us know where you would like us to send your records, so your new veterinarian can have your puppies first vet history. We wish you and your new vet a mutually respectful relationship and are happy you could find a vet that understands you - we really do want you to be happy with your pet care. We still have the same lead veterinarians for the past 30 years and we are still practicing great medicine and compassion and care. We will mark your account as No Service as you have found a new vet and we will forward your records as soon as you et us know where to. We wish you and your puppy the very best of luck and that your dog has a long, happy, healthy life.
