Emergency Care, NOT FAST

I had to take my dog who kept on throwing up after he ate. We got to the hospital a little before 10 and did bot leave until after 11. There was only one other patient in the building. We paid $132 for emergency care but during the time there we had to wait for the vet techs to finish their rounds. We were told that our dog needed x-rays, okay not a problem. We had to wait over a half hour for them to be taken. So much for emergency care. After everything was finished spent $525 and didn't get a true answer.

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with our emergency service. We operate much like a human ER room, most critical patients first. Even if our waiting room is not full it is extremely likely our doctor and our nurses are taking care of more urgent cases in the hospital. The history you gave states your dog ate foreign material (hand towel and balloon string) 4 days prior to you bringing him in, and had been vomiting since. A scheduled regular appointment the next day would have resulted in a more timely exam. If we could have taken less than 1 and 1/2 hrs for your service we truly would have. Emergency care can be unpredictable as we never know what is coming through the door. We see from your xrays that it was difficult to define the material left in your dogs stomach as to whether it was food or a foreign body. The doctor gave you medications and a treatment plan, recommending outpatient treatment for 24 hrs to see if things were better and did not wish to rush you into hospitalizing your dog and costing much more money as his xrays were fairly normal and nothing was showing any signs of urgency at that time. We are sorry if you feel the advice and treatment were not appropriate. Is your dog any better? - We respectfully request you retract your review or reconsider the circumstances, Much of your dicontent may have been avoided had you sought medical help at an earlier opportunity. Your office visit would have been cheaper and your appointment would have been scheduled instead of an Emergency appointment. We really do try our best to see patients in a timely manner. We apologize if it was not timely enough for you. Best of luck with your dog.We do hope he is much better.
