Ridiculous pricing for materials and service charge

While the service guy was friendly as well as customer service, the pricing was completely unacceptable. My furnace had issues and circuit board needed replacing after assessment. I was lucky enough to ask for the model # and a quick google search showed the model significantly lower than the quote for the job. (More than 3 times the cost of the part). When I called back the service guy he was nice but explained that the cost is for labor and installation. He said it was a complex job but when calling another service guy they did the parts labor installation for 300.00 less and said it was a simple replacement. If you use this company and they give a quote please get a second opinion and research the part online. I find it very disturbing that a company can charge that much while in reality was simple fix. While a company undrstandly needs to make profit the margin here was beyond a reasonable margin.

Hi Paul,

We are sorry you feel that way. We try our best to be both fair to our customers and to ourselves. We usually aren't the cheapest but we aren't the most expensive. We price where our company needs to be to be profitable and stay in business.

I was able to do some research and determined that there is a new third party, generic - if you will, of that part. They are just entering the market and are offering the part cheap. I haven't used it before. I am always a little nervous about using brand new third party parts to repair my customers equipment. I have had some bad experiences and prefer to use the part that the manufacturer supplies for reliability. At least until there is some info to say that the generic is trustworthy. The guy you used may have used this to reduce the price.
