Cool Air USA

Good company overall.

Had Cool Air come to my home as my compressor was intermittently shutting off. Their recommendation was replacment of a switching unit outside along with the wiring harness from the compressor to the exterior breaker, cleaning of the drain line with compressed nitrogen gas, and rerouting the condensate drain at the air handler. They explained that the overflow safety switch should not have been installed in the primary drain to begin with. The first tech completed those repairs. A few hours later, I decided to check around my air handler for any possible leaks and realized the tech had not put the filter back in the unit...and also realized that the reconfigured condensate drain was completely blocking access to the filter. Basically, I would have to deconstruct the condensate drain every month in order to replace my filter. Obviously, that was not acceptable so I called Cool Air and explained the problem. A second tech came the next day and completely reconstructed the condensate drain to allow filter access. He then checked the drain outside and reconfigured it as well because the prior tech had constructed it with old pieces of pvc that he removed from my air handler. "Tech 2" routed the drain away from my foundation as I requested and both drain assemblies are functioning properly and look professional. Combined, the work completed was $673.00. The overall cost did not seem excessive to me with one exception. The charge for drain cleaning was about $180.00. I've done it myself over the years, so I know what it takes and $180.00 just seems excessive. If that were their sole reason for coming to my home, It might seem reasonable when you include labor and a service call charge, but not when they're already here for other repairs. The only other thing I felt was odd is that on their first visit, I was asked to give them a 50% deposit for the work they would complete the next day. I agreed to do so, but that was the first time a service company has ever asked me for money upfront when the parts costs were very minimal. Overall, Cool Air is very pleasant to deal with and the work was done satisfactorily in the end. The downside was having to be home three days in a row. Once for the inspection, the second day for the tech to complete the work agreed upon, and a third day as the work wasn't completed properly or professionally the first time. I would use Cool Air again if needed. Both techs were very pleasant and respectful to my wife and I. Though the work wasn't right the first time, they came back with no argument and fixed the issues the next day. The second tech apologized to us for the issue and remedied the problem quickly and professionally. He also emailed another copy of the invoice to me along with before & after photos of the work performed so I could retain them for future reference....That's a professional!
