My 6 year old learned about basic farming and where food comes from in the Cub Scouts, so my wife and I thought it would be a good idea to get a couple of fruit trees to show him how food grows. I found Willis Orchards on the internet and we brought 2 dwarf apple trees, a dwarf peach tree and a honeybell tangerine tree. All arrived looking GREAT with the root $@!#% are carefully wrapped. Spring has arrived and the apple and peach trees are doing wonderful. Unfortunately, the tangerine tree did not make it through the winter freeze (I planted it in a half barrel like the others). By comparison, I also purchased some cherry trees from Stark Bro.'s, and while they are also doing well in barrels, they do not have any limbs like the Willis trees and they came packaged with wet newspaper strips around the roots!! What a difference in presentation to the customer! I called Willis regarding the dead tangerine tree and we're working together to get a replacement tree. The peach tree is doing so well that I think I'll just get another as the replacement.
Willis is the way to go!
