My Local Plumber

Mixed

I called My Local Plumber for a new hot water heater for a rent house I own. I was at the rent house when they first arrived but left soon thereafter as I could see no purpose for my remaining there. An hour or so later I was called by their office and informed that they had to partially dismantle the doorway into the hot water closet in order to get the new unit in. I was and remain angry that I was not informed beforehand of this necessity. When I expressed my anger, I was told by the woman in the office that the installers had discussed this with my tenant before doing it; my tenant denies this and says he was told of the necessary door dismantling only after the fact. Regardless of who is lying and who is telling the truth, the fact remains that I own the house, I called the MLP, and I paid the bill; I was the one who should have been informed before dismantling the doorway. I realize that it was something necessary to do but nonetheless think I should have been informed of it beforehand. My tenant tells me they returned as promised and did an excellent job of rebuilding the part of the doorway they had to temporarily dismantle.

I completely agree with your frustration on not being informed before the door trim was removed. We unfortunately run into this issue on a routine basis because of the new government regulations on water heaters. They are required to be much for energy efficient which is now causing them to be larger in size. Unfortunately for many homeowners, the newer regulated water heaters do not fit in the closet as well as the older unregulated models that were originally installed. We did speak with the tenant about the door and he was very helpful in communicating with the guys throughout the whole process. However, that does not discount the fact that you should have most definitely been informed before it was done. We want to apologize for our miscommunication and would like you to know we always strive to give the best service possible. This is why we had a professional come back and fix the door at no additional charge. I hope we can still do business in the future as we value you as a customer.
