First, let me tell you a little about myself:

I'm an auto mechanics hobbyist. I've been working on cars/trucks/boats/small-engines, including everything from rebuilding engines, transmissions, carburetors, and differentials --- to diagnosing/repairing electronic/electrical/drivetrain-control issues --- to general maintenance and repair.... for... wow... more than 30 years.

I'm also a certified electronics technician, and I'm a computer applications analyst. So, these "new fangled" electronics devices on cars don't scare me one bit. The information is out there... so it's just a matter of reading and researching.

I'll be honest. I'm cheap. I don't like paying a "mechanic" a lot of money to do something that I can do myself (and save a TON of money). There have been a few times in my life when I was so busy that I didn't have time to fix something myself... and I used a "mechanic". The reason I put "mechanic" in quotes is because, in my experience, every "mechanic" that I have used... had terrible diagnostic skills and ended up costing me more money because of their incompetence. Diagnostic skills apply in every problem, whether it's a computer program, the sewer lines in your house, or the engine management system in your car. Many "mechanics" simply don't have diagnostic skills.

I've been using Rock Auto for five or six years... ever since I discovered them. They USUALLY beat the local parts stores for price, even after the cost of shipping is considered. That's amazing! They often have parts that my local parts stores don't even offer! In short, Rock Auto saves me money.

Obviously, if I can't wait a few days for the part and need it right now, then I go to the local parts stores. But when I can wait (which is usually the case), I buy from Rock Auto.

They deliver parts on-time, at lower prices, and have equal or better quality when compared to the local parts stores.

I have never been disappointed with a part that I've ordered from Rock Auto. To be honest, I've never needed to return a part. But, based on their excellent service in delivering a part... I suspect that their return process is easy too.
