Billed me twice and emptied bank acct

just placed an order with this company and they kept telling me my card was rejected, but when my payment finally went thru it had billed multiple times, and when i called them they said its a process they do for identity verification to protect against fraud, sorry but ive never heard of companys billing someone multiple times to protect against theft. They say itll be back in my account in a cpl business days but it should have never been withdrawn but only once since the card was only processed only once.

What this reviewer saw on his account are pending authorizations, not charges or withdrawls. RockAuto accepts online orders by credit card, and uses an address verification system to prevent fraud. When a customer enters a billing address that does not match the credit card they are using, we do not accept the order and we send a transaction cancellation through the same credit card company network used to process payments. Many banks take time to process that cancellation through their system and drop the authorization from the account. An authorization does not actually remove funds from an account, it merely sets them aside. We charged this reviewer's card one time, when his order shipped.
