I have a membership with Dr. Fix-it, so called them when I had a problem with a DIY project. I went into detail of what I needed (a stuck seat removed from shower diverter piping) with the person setting the appointment. She assured me the technician would have the proper tool and training to remove the seat. When the technician arrived he looked at the situation (not in the opening itself) and informed me he would not attempt to remove the seat because if something went wrong the company would then be responsible to fix it. That wasted two hours of my travel time. He quoted $1250 (with my member discount!) to replace the pipes and diverter. All to replace a $2 seat that I had already purchased?!? I told him "no" and called a plumber to come out the next day. The plumber checked things out, had the proper tool, and removed the old seat within 5 minutes, and since "he was there", put in the new seat and diverter. He charged me the minimum his company would allow, saving me well over $1000. It felt like Doctor Fix-it was trying to rip me off.
