My mother is a resident at MorningStar of Fountain Hills. The staff there work very hard. I cannot say enough about how loving and caring they are. I do have to note, however, that I have struggled with finding a clear way to communicate my mother's needs. My mother is unable to communicate herself. I've tried several methods to make sure that the information caregivers need to maintain continuity of care gets relayed properly but there still seemed to be gaps. This week I sat down and summarized in a single page what my mother's daily needs are. The information is already all there in the nurses notes; however, that is a seven page, huge document which is cumbersome to read through. This is why things weren't getting done. For instance, I wasn't aware until a few weeks into my stay that I was supposed to select my mother's menu since she is unable to do it herself. Nobody informed me and the result was that she was being served food she didn't like. So just improving communication among the different sides would make the whole process smoother. However, it's getting a little better now. So their mode of communication is an aspect that needs to be streamlined. I have, after some effort, worked out the bugs at a personal level but it's something that needs to be improved institutionally. Other than that, the people there are fabulous. I love everybody there and do not have an unkind word for anyone. They are very considerate, kind and just wonderful, which is very critical in a facility like this.
