I went originally to a local "big box" store for a golf club fitting, and was disappointed because they only tested a couple club heads, which they were trying to sell. I have been looking for a longer shaft driver, and was referred to Club Champion for a fitting. They had NO long shafts to try out. The Sales Person said his hands were tied, and tried various shafts and heads to improve my distance, but was unable to beat my original driver. I am 6'4", and have hit a 47" driver most of my life. But I am not about to invest in a custom club with an extra long shaft without getting to try it out first. Club Champion boasts over 50,000 club head and shaft combinations, but they can't supply their fitters with varying shaft lengths. The fitting was no better than the driver that I picked up off of the rack at a box store 10 years ago.
