This review is long overdue... I did a long game fitting at the 5th Ave NYC location with Kyle back in August of this year. Long game includes driver / 3W and hybrids in my case. I'm a life-long player but these days lucky if I get out 15 or 20 times in a year - currently a 11 handicaper.
Kyle was able to quickly assess that what I need in my clubs is LAUNCH. I make solid contact consistently but am a low ball hitter. First session was driver and 3W and I can honestly say that I've gained NO LESS than 15 - 20 yards on both clubs AND hitting the ball much higher than I ever used to. For Driver that means longer carry and 3W means softer landings. BIG success on both. Next session was hybrids - I don't hit long irons all that well and feel better with a hybrid. Again, after working through heads first - then shaft options - then dialing in loft settings and narrowing down shafts for optimal LAUNCH. Gained distance on both of these clubs vs my old hybrids but more importantly - gained launch angle and therefore better carry and softer landings. I'll admit that I've only been able to get out and hit these new clubs a few times so far since I bought them in August, but can already feel a HUGE improvement.
Here's the verdict guys -- I'm a pretty good player who thought that I have a pretty good idea of what equipment I like to use. What I learned was that what actually works best for me were clubs that I would NOT have walked into a shop and selected myself off the rack. A custom fitting is a HUGE benefit to anyone who hits the ball pretty well but maybe not as well as they could be. In my case I gained distance and launch and those will surely contribute to shaving strokes off my scores. I'm a believer in this process and I really enjoyed working with Kyle. He's cool, easy going, felt no "pressure" like someone is watching my every move and judging me - and he understands what he is seeing from my swings and understands the feedback from the tracman to dial in the right choices on heads and shafts. I'll be going back in spring to hit some irons - no doubt. All around great experience.
