I met with Dominick yesterday for my first club fitting experience. The fitting involved a 90 minute iron fitting. The fitting focused on my 6 iron data. I felt the information and feedback was extremely useful in my decision to invest in a new set of irons.
Dominick started by identifying the best shaft for my swing speed and then moved to various brands of club heads. I had suggested when scheduled the appointment that I was interested in either titleist or PXG irons. I tried Callaway, Cobra, TaylorMade, Titleist, and PXG 6 iron club heads. The information identified PXG as the most consistent club head for my swing.
The loft and lie angle information was beneficial to my predominantly fade swing pattern to try to minimize the impact of my miss hits.
I ended up purchasing a new PXG iron set 5-PW that PXG will manufacture and ship to the Club Champion corporate office near Chicago to be assembled consistent with my specifications. Club Champion will the UPS my clubs to my house. I felt the $1,500 price which included tax, shipping, and the $150 fitting fee was very reasonable.
If you have only bought irons off the rack and never been fitted then I would certainly recommend this process with Club Champion.
