Felt like I got ripped off
And the award for worst customer service goes to Yost and Campbell. I wish I could give 0 stars.
I had called Yost and Campbell to inquire about enrolling in their Home Comfort Club. I was told it would cost $160 for the evaluation of my current heating system, but if I was eligible that half would be applied toward my balance, seemed fair.
The technician came out on scheduled day, realized he needed a Carbon Monoxide test that he didn't have in the van. Told me not to worry, the office would call and reschedule an appointment. He left within 5 minutes of arriving.
I checked my credit card statement that afternoon and saw that I had already been charged the $160.
I waited a week, nothing from Yost and Campbell so I called back. The operator advised that I would receive a call back within a few days to reschedule.
I waited another week, nothing from Yost and Campbell. I called back and was told that the additional test would cost me an additional amount. Not at all what I was expecting. I asked how much the test would cost, and was told I would receive a call back within a few days.
Another week went by, nothing from Yost and Campbell. I called back and was told the manager would call me with a quote on the test, but according to their rates it would cost $175 per hour. I asked how many hours it would take to administer the test. I was told I would receive a call back with the information.
2 weeks went by as I became busy starting a new job. Nothing from Yost and Campbell. I called back and was told that the test would cost $205 an hour and would take 2-3 hours as they charge extra for weekends and weeknights, even though the reason I needed the test was because the tech didn't have it in him in my scheduled date. So $410-$615 in addition to the $160 I paid already to find out if I QUALIFY for their plan. I asked if they could refund me the $160 as they had already wasted 5 weeks of my time and provided no service whatsoever to me. I was told by a rep Amy that she would explain my experience to her manager and ask about a refund and...I would get a call back.
Today - six weeks after my initial appointment, nothing back from Yost and Campbell. I called to follow up, I was promptly told that their policy is no refunds in any situation.
I probably dodged a bullet by not using them if their emergency service is anything like their customer service in terms of responsiveness. Essentially I paid them $160 to show up for 5 minute and tell me I have to pay them an additional $400-600 dollars if I want service. This is the definition of a scam and I will be letting everyone in my neighborhood know.
