Unreasonable rate after laconic-brief explanation.
I was charged $460 of which $110 was for the evaluation. Then to put in what was essentially a $100 indoor thermostat which took literally five minutes to install while I watched, I was first charged $350 which was reduced to $250 after I complained and the credit card company contacted W F Smith with my complaint. That means for about a $100 thermostat they charged me $150 for five minutes to put the thermostat in which I would’ve done myself had I understood what it was he was doing. I did it 25 years ago with a more expensive thermostat that I bought myself for $60. By my reckoning that’s $150 times 12 or $1800 an hour instead of the $3000 an hour they originally charged. The diagnosis was fine and the service after it was done was done correctly. However neither $3000 dollars an hour nor $1800 an hour to put in a thermostat in five minutes is not acceptable and was not sufficiently, clearly explained to me to my understanding. Had it been so, I would’ve done it myself.
