No shortcuts, good building materials, good building supervisor
Everything went well with Taylor Homes, but I had one little thing. My building supervisor Rick was really good and personal and he went beyond what my expectations were. For example, we had a meeting with Taylor on how we wanted certain things to be on the outside and I went to other houses and took pictures of the front porch pillars we wanted. They were unique and we wanted the porch to look really nice. Rick saw them and knew what I wanted. Corporate didn't add that on my price and wanted to charge an additional $1,000 to do the posts the way I wanted. I didn't agree to that at all and I thought that was unfair.
They knew what I wanted from day one and instead of having them charge me an extra grand, Rick had a fella make the frame for the pillars and I bought supplies. When he told me they wanted to charge me extra, he knew what I wanted from day one and knew I told corporate how I wanted it. That was my main concern when they started doing that porch. I don't know what the problem was, but that's the only problem.
If it wasn't for Rick, I would not have gotten what I originally wanted. I was highly appreciative of him. He went the extra mile to make sure the customer got what he wanted. Taylor Homes wasn't going to have it unless I paid an extra $1,000. Other than that, I think everything is fine. I think the air conditioning and heating unit is really, really noisy. I don't think I had option to upgrade, but I probably would have done that.
At the end of the day, everything is fine. I'm pleased with it and I know it is a well-built home. I came out here every day during the build, since it's next to my mom's house, and watched every step. Everyone that Rick had build it was very personal and took pride in what they did, and I think they did an excellent job--so I'd give that aspect five stars. Rick took care of it and I'm glad he did. I would recommend Taylor Homes because I think the people who build their homes take pride in what they do.
