I spent a little over an hours with Miguel F. getting fitted for a new driver. The facility is in a very nice location and caters specifically to club fitting. They don't sell $@!#%, shoes, etc. but do stock a massive amount of various club heads and shafts.

I started by hitting about ten drives with the driver I had been using for the last 6 years. Their Trackman device helps you see all the important statistics (club speed, ball speed, spin rate, etc.) for each drive you hit, and then that information is used to compare you hitting various driver heads with various shafts. In my case, after about 75 drives, I could clearly see which combination worked best for me. With the newly selected head/shaft combination, I was averaging about 30 yards per drive further than with my old driver.

If you are truly serious about your game, and want to get the most out of your swing, no matter how bad or good, this custom club fitting experience is the way to go. Expect to pay more than getting a new driver off the shelf at a sporting goods or golf store, but there is no doubt in my mind this customization process will help your drives and/or other shots. This boils down to the motto, "You get what you pay," for when it comes to getting custom fitted for your swing type.
