Friendly communication but poor outcome.
Contacted Malek to diagnose and bid on AC repair.
Technician arrived quickly and observed the water pan had a lot of water in it and also explained that the panels to access the blower fan were facing the attic wall which left no room to work. The bid was for $1450 to replace the blower fan. Justification for the bid was it would take 2 people 4 hours of work to accomplish.
I felt this to be excessive so I waited a day so the original AC installer could look at the unit. The next day the AC started working so I knew the blower motor was not damaged. The installer tech came out and discovered the problem to be a plugged drain line that was causing the water pan to fill triggering a sensor to cut the unit off. Took the installer 1 hour to turn the unit and tape it back up. Very simple inexpensive fix. I would say that the Malek tech's observation about the panels helped me to make a decision to have the unit panels turned for easier access which required some work from an electrician for wiring. Cost for turning unit and drain overflow $150.
