Air Authority Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.

Air Authority provided outstanding service including creative solutions to address long-term issues related to heating and cooling of our house at a fair price

Air Authority provided the best HVAC service I have had in over 30 years of home ownership. Their team was well trained, courteous, attentive to detail and considerate. The team’s leadership in Larry Cook and Jack Thompson set the tone. These two gentlemen took the time to discuss every issue with me before the project started. Larry and Jack also provided a series of alternatives to address the issues present with our current HVAC system.

In terms of background, my HVAC system gave up the ghost only 13 years after it had been installed by another local company. This prompted the search for a company that could not only replace the current system with a more efficient system but could also creatively address the heating and air-conditioning issues we have had in this house for the past 24 years. Each of the firms I interviewed (8 in all) all provided a replacement solution but only Air Authority assessed the entire system diagnosed the problems and provided a bid that not only replaced the system but provided new reasonable solutions to solving many of “balancing” issues that are present in this house.

Our house had several hot and cold spots that we could not get balanced with the rest of the house. Air Authority reviewed the volume of air which the current duct work could handle compared to the airflow generated by the existing system and found that the duct work was woefully undersized and did not keep the static pressure constant throughout the distribution process. Through replacing and correctly sizing the duct work in the basement and increasing the return flow rate at the furnace (by installing a wraparound cold air return system), the air flow within the house has improved significantly. No other company interviewed took the time to assess this issue – their response was almost always “the current unit is undersized and just needs to be replaced with a bigger unit”. As it turns out, Air Authority said the size of the unit was fine but the restricted return airflow was the issue.

The project was completed on time and on budget. Air Authority’s team came prepared with the understanding of what had to be done and what the goal of the project was. They all had the same set of plans and were briefed before arriving as to what needed to be done. Again, Jack and Larry’s leadership showed through. As a result, I have a new Trane system with improved airflow operating more efficiently and saving some money on the monthly utility bills!

Upon completion of the project, both Jack and Larry came back to meet with me to make sure I was happy with the outcome and outlined the next steps of balancing the new system when the temperatures get warm again.
It was a pleasure working with Air Authority. Their commitment to customer services is evident. While no big issues were encountered with the project a couple of ducts were not completely sealed and were identified as an issue. They scheduled the work, came out, fixed the issues I had identified, and during this trip, they spotted a couple of other concerns which they addressed on their own imitative. Again, showing an attention to detail that is rarely seen anymore.

I will continue to recommend Air Authority to anyone having both service and replacement needs related to the HVAC system in their homes.
