Shady, borderline illegal practices, unprofessional
They missed common VW diesel problems over 2 visits (1 of which was the initial part breaking, 1 was a warranty claim when it broke again 6 months later, and they finally caught the issue on the third visit for the same thing 4 months after that. The offending problem is so common, easy to spot, and a known issue that it should have been caught the first visit), tried to hold our car hostage on an estimate that was more than the worth of the car when we decided to not have it repaired there (we paid for a full point check when it was in for the warranty work and they found a bunch of "new" issues that had been "missed" on the full point check 4 months previously), verbally attacked me when I suggested a temporary solution to get the vehicle home (we had driven the car there, it was far from disabled and the main issue was a serpentine belt tensioner. Not a dangerously critical part in any sense.), the manager tried to implicate a failure on my wife's part to recognize trouble signs that would have prevented the part failures during a tirade directed towards us (she had noticed noises in the past and had been previously told by them that it was nothing to be concerned about, that it was a squeaky bushing. Turns out the noises were a frozen rear brake caliper causing the necessity of new rear brakes barely a year after having them replaced by Rolfs), demanded that the car wasn't leaving the shop unless it was towed and then before the tow truck got there they disabled the car completely by removing the half broken part and then running the car with no serpentine belt until the battery was completely dead, which caused damage to the battery. They then waited until the tow company dropped the car at our house to call and say that they had the part at the shop if we wanted to come pick it up. That somehow when they placed its mounting bolts and the serpentine belt in a plastic bag on the dashboard, the part was "accidentally" left out of the car.
Had they simply given us the car back the same as it was when we took it there and let us sign a "no hold liable" form that most mechanic shops have drawn up and on hand, there would have been no issues, and the visit would have been fine. However, the personal attack, the multiple failures which they tried to place blame on us for, and just general shadiness and vindictiveness has made me write this review.
