Air Conditioning Service/Maintenance

We have been nothing but disappointed with Home Comfort Experts in the experience at this home. When we purchased the home, we immediately went with your company because we had used you for the past (2) homes we owned. Unfortunately, this experience over the last 11 years we've owned the home have been frustrating over and over again. Initially we purchased a brand new furnace and air conditioning unit. We specifically asked about a zone unit, since our home is a high square footage home and should have had (2) units when it was built, however, that wasn't common in the 80s when the home was built. We were advised to not go that route, but to instead install a heat pump, which we did. Within months of having the unit installed, we were not happy with the results, so we paid to have a zoning system installed. That helped immensely with the 10 degree shift that we typically had between the first and second levels of our home. At that point, we thought we were on a good path, even though we were frustrated that this could have been handled initially. Since that time, we have had issues nearly every time a technician comes to our home. We've had a technician cause a gas leak from the furnace, we've had erosion caused to our new furnace due to the technician not properly putting the equipment back together after maintenance, we've had water in our basement from a filter being put in backwards, we can never get the filters that are for our unit without having to wait for you to get them in stock, we've had the unit freeze over twice due to refrigerant leaking...the list goes on. Last year we never even got scheduled for the spring maintenance that we pay for on the monthly plan we are on at $21 per month because by the time it was called to be scheduled, we were almost ready to turn the heat on, so it didn't make sense for them to check the AC, which had worked properly all summer. It's clear that many of the technicians sent out, don't know how to service the zoning system and unit we have because again, every time they are here, we have issues that lead to a follow up call. Just this last time, we had the technician out for the maintenance and within a week of him being here (the unit was fully functional and had been used several times prior to him coming out), the AC unit was leaking refrigerant and froze up with ice on the evaporator coil. We were told someone would be out in the afternoon, but then received a call that someone would be over in about 10 minutes. We waited for the tech to arrive, only to find out they couldn't do anything because of the amount of ice on the unit. We rearranged our work schedules to be here, as we were told someone would be out in the afternoon. The day went on and we waited, with no phone call and no communication that in fact, no one was coming out that afternoon. We leave to go take care of our clients, who had already had their schedules altered and then receive a call after 5:00pm that someone is coming out and almost to the house. At that time, the only person home was our 12 year old daughter. Since we knew the technician coming, we allowed her to open the door and stayed on FaceTime while the technician was in our home (around an hour). Following all of this, we receive the report to find out that the problem truly isn't fixed. The tech did not have enough refrigerant to fully correct the problem, so they just put in what they had on the truck. Then they proceed to let my husband know that next time someone over 18 must be home. While I understand the policy, Home Comfort needs to understand that people do have to work and we also have commitments and customers who we expect to provide excellent service to. In order to do that, we need to get our jobs done on time and cannot sit around waiting a full day for someone to just show up at their leisure. This last appointment and this last report accusing us of causing issues by allowing our daughter to let a technician in, is the last straw. We have given the benefit of the doubt countless times and tried our best not to be customers who get upset easily. Since we have had nothing but issues, we will not be using Home Comfort on the current home build we are doing for ourselves and we will not be able to recommend Home Comfort to others in the future. It's unfortunate to have continued issues and no resolution, to have a fully functional system that was an expensive investment in our home.

Dear Shawn,
Thank you for this very thorough review. From reading your comments it sounds like one of your biggest complaints was the situation with your daughter. Please understand it is company policy for technicians to never be alone with children under the age of 18.
As for the technical issues you've had problems with over the years, we apologize for any inconveniences this has caused. Please know we train our technicians for hundreds of hours every year in all areas. If we fall short, these reviews are used to help us revise our training process and we appreciate the feedback.
We are sorry it seems we have lost your business moving forward. It pains us to see customers leave as we pride ourselves on creating strong relationships with each household. If you would like to call us so we can address each of your complaints, we would appreciate the opportunity to do so.
Thank you,
Home Comfort Experts
