Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Baltimore

Totally Disappointing Experience

We called because we hear water running in our cider block foundation. The first plumber came out listened to me at my wife tell our story....we are not plumbers but asked if the first plumber was going to do any testing or shut off the watet. He said no. He listened to us and said it was an outside job and he was the inside guy. He walked outside and looked at something and came back in. He told us that the outside guy would call us. He left b after only being at our house for 15 minutes and never used any tools.
The next day the outside guy...also president of this location...called and said he was told that the job required them to dig up our water source line. He said he would drive by and look at the house and see what was required. He asked me if the first guy turned off the water source and I said no. He said he might need to. I told him to let me know and I would make an appointment to be home to see if that could help determine the origin of thr leak. He never made that appointmemt. But I got a call saying the job was $5400 and it would be scheduled later. I signed the proposal for the job.
About 18 days after the first guy showed up, our job was set.
My wife stayed home for this appointment,
The crew showed up and dug the hole...not a leak seen. They asked my wife if anyone had turned the water source off...no had done that. So they broke a hole on the inside foundation near the water source line. They patched that hole...but never cleaned up the debris from that.
They called the company president who came out and did several hours of inside testing...the same test we asked the first guy to do. They said that the water running was from a toilet. But could not answer why it sounded...and still sounds like it in our foundation.
They also leaked some grey water from our sewer pipe when they snaked it...never cleaned that up or told us about it...we found it when they left.
When they finished the job the president wanted my wife to pay right away. When my wife expressed frustration with what happened, the president took up for the first guy and said we agreed to all that was done. Due to clerical issues she was unable to pay that day. They wanted to come back later to fix the leaking toilet.
I called the next day to voice my complaint about everything and pay, I was given a discount. But when I expressed again our frustration that the digging and other things would have been avoided with what they did after they realized that there was no need to dig. So meaning all the testing and snaking and water source turning off should have been down by the first guy and the digging up of our could have been avoided.
I paid the discounted price and cancelled all future business with this company.
Seems like the company was more interested in doing the least work for a high price.
