I have some rental property and the work done by Sears Heating & Cooling on one of the properties was good. I thought the price was good and also competitive. They did a good job installing the new furnace. However, when the furnace on the other house started acting up, it was going on and off, Sears told me the same thing as before. That the motor was shot, which didn't make sense to me. That furnace was newer and in good shape. I had it serviced less than a year ago and all was well. The technician told me I needed a new blower and a bunch of other things. He said exactly the same thing I had heard from the technician on the other property. That he would add up all the repairs and compare that price with the price of a new furnace. The last time it made sense because it was an old furnace and I felt that they were telling the truth and being honest, so I went ahead and bought the new furnace. I want to be a good landlord and keep my tenants safe. But this time, it sounded too much like the same song and dance, and that furnace was much newer. So I went online and looked up flame sensor. After watching the video, I followed the instructions, cleaned the flame sensor with a little bit of steel wool and everything started working again perfectly. I didn't need a new furnace or all the repairs after all. It ran fine. I had already paid them seventy-eight dollars to tell me that a whole bunch of stuff needed replacement, which wasn't the case. They also recommended a new furnace, which I didn't need. They never called me back after that. It gave me a bad feeling, even though I had been happy with their work in the other house. I will never use them again. I am trying to be fair, but I didn't get a good feeling from them the second time. I probably should have checked the internet before replacing the other furnace also.
