Ordinarily I’m very happy with TMI, but not in this case. A simple toilet tank valve replace job ended up costing $180 plus the $75 trip fee. The $180 was a standard job fee and did not take into account the specifics of my valve replacement. The plumber was at my house for 20 minutes. I would have been happy to pay the $180, although I feel that is too much for such a simple repair, but to also pay the “trip/diagnose” fee on top of that is too much. In fairness to TMI I did receive 20% off after explaining my concern with the charge. That was nice. However, the reason I was given the discount was because of my usage of TMI in the past. The service manager felt the $250 charge (20 minutes of work mind you) was fair. That being the case TMI has priced themselves out of my comfort zone. I’ll be using a more competitively priced plumbing service in the future.
