I called Benjamin Franklin not knowing that they were not being run by the same folks who had become the reason why I chose them as my plumbing company when I moved to this house in 2007. The service technician heard about the tub not draining over the phone and he exclaimed that he would have to bring a snake and a wrench. Why would that be surprising? When he arrived he first described the worst thing that could possibly be wrong that it could be a caved in pipe in the line to the street. He spent barely any time in the house analyzing a possible solution. He was determined that he needed to dig up the main drain. I told him where it was (previous plumbers had used it before) but he was unsuccessful in locating it. He was determined that there must be another way to get to the main drain. He wanted to pull a toilet and take care of the drain problem that way. I said, "No!" Most importantly, he gave me a quote of $650. I said, "Absolutely not!" He called his boss and the price was reduced to $400. I told him that I'd never paid over $350 to have a drain cleaned out in the past. Within the hour, I was sure that the technician did not know what he was doing (he spent most of his time outside on the phone to his boss). In the end, I had to pay $79 to get rid of him (service call). It was an expensive mistake for me to call Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. The technician even dragged mud into my living room.

I called another plumbing company when Benjamin Franklin was still at my house. The next service technician arrived and within a short amount of time knew that the kitchen sink was the culprit causing the bathtub to backup. He resolved the problem in less than 20 minutes and charged me LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE that Benjamin Franklin tried to charge me. I even got an additional 10% discount. I will never use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again.
