Won't use Curtis again
I've used Curtis a number of times in the past. It's been a few years since I needed any service. My tenants heat went out so I called around. Curtis was the only one that could get someone out same day. The scheduler was so nice, she did a great job!
The tech was supposed to be there between 1-3. He didn't get there till 3:30. He called me at 3:57 to tell me that I needed a new ignitor and flame sensor. It would cost $1027 + $89 tech fee. I asked if I needed that flame sensor to get the heat to work. I was told no, but at some point I will. I said, ok...how much for just the ignitor? He said $486 + $89 tech fee. Based on my online searches that sounded way too high so I didn't have him do the work! When I said that's high he said, that's what happens with a big company like us. So I finally found someone else to come out. They came out, confirmed the ignitor needed replaced. Cost for their work was $240 + $35 tech fee. He also said the flame sensor is fine and he sees no reason to replace it nor does he anticipate any issues with it in the future. Consultation and work done in less than an hour!
So not only does Curtis greatly overcharge (more than double another company), they tried to get me to replace a part that didn't need replacing. Despicable!! I will NEVER use Curtis again.
