Service is terrible, house is nice.

I have lived in the same Newport unit for the past two years. My roommates and I love the space, the bedrooms are huge and each bedroom has its own bathroom inside the bedroom. The living room is large as well. However, we have had quite a few maintenance issues and service issues to go along with them. In the beginning of August 2016, our garbage disposal broke and we filed a maintenance request. A maintenance man was sent out, but the problem was not fixed. Following that problem, our dishwasher began to leak, and whenever our washer is running, the dishwasher leaks and the garbage disposal gets backed up as well. It is now March 2017 and we have filed MANY requests over this time span. We have really just learned to live with this problem since Newport has been incapable of helping us solve it. Also, the light bulb of the fixture in the main hallway entering the building was out from November 2016 to the beginning of March 2017 (even after multiple maintenance requests) as well. This was not something we as tennants were able to fix ourselves because it required a large ladder and tools that we did not have (and this is something Newport takes responsibility for in the lease, too). They replied to our first two requests by sending a maintenance man out to attempt to fix the issue. They could not fix it because they "didn't know what was wrong". So instead of sending someone else to help us, maybe someone with more professional experience, Newport ignored our issue and we continued to live with no light entering the building. This was extremely dangerous and scary at night time, especially being in North Philadelphia which is not exactly the safest area to begin with. Finally, after 3 months and multiple complaints, an electrician was sent to our residence and the problem was fixed in less than five minutes. The floor in our kitchen has also been popping up from a water leak under the refrigerator - this has been the case since BEFORE my roommates and I moved into the house two years ago. Nothing was ever done to fix it. The house had been poorly cleaned prior to our move in date, which was also set back an extra week in order for Newport to "clean and paint the house prior to move in". We still paid full rent for that month even though we were only able to live in the apartment for 3 out of 4 weeks of it.
Other than the maintenance issues, it is a very spacious place and the appliances are relatively modern. Lots of potential for this place. The maintenance issues really just got in the way.
