I hired The Painting Company of Birmingham to paint the entire exterior and interior of my home. The man who came out to do the estimate was very nice and professional. I accepted the estimate of $7,000 which I thought was a little bit expensive but I considered the fact that they were referred to me by my neighbor.

The appointment for the entire job was scheduled for a month later. One week before they were to arrive my husband and I moved everything off the walls, counters, shelves and anywhere that anything would be in the way. We washed all the woodwork including the baseboards.

The day before their scheduled arrival, they called to let us know that they would be late arriving, which they were by four days! Once they showed up the painters were very friendly and they were nice people. While painting the outside they found a rotting spot and notified us and they did fix that prior to painting, I thought that was very good of them. Once inside they were good about covering things that we couldn't move out of the way, such as the china cabinet, sofa, and loveseat. When they left or removed any coverings the problem was that they did not fold over the coverings thereby spreading the dust and debris back onto the floors and anywhere else it wanted to land. We ended up having to clean that up every night for the entire week that they were there painting.

When the entire paint job was completed they had us go through the house and place a piece of tape to any missed spots or anything that we thought could have been done better. They were good about coming back out and taking care of those issues.

This entire job was supposed to take three or four days and it took them an entire week to complete it. This is an 1800 square foot house, three bedrooms and two baths. There was one day that only two painters showed up.

For the most part, there were some things that The Painting Company of Birmingham
did very well but the things that they did not do well such as showing up when scheduled or being fully staffed or even cleaning up when they were finished really was a major factor in this rating.

The paint job inside and out did turn out very good but it was everything in between that made a difference, including not being able to communicate with the painters who seemingly had limited English speaking ability.
