Minuteman Heating And Air

Overall, A Big Mess

Overall, I had a mess of an experience with Minuteman Heating And Air. The most recent visit I would rate it five stars, but the prior two I would mark as two stars. My reasoning for that is that they seemed more about money for the company rather than helping their customer, which really bothered me.
I currently have a maintenance contract with them, where they come out twice before the seasons to check out my system. The technician was very good and while I was talking to him I told him I thought about adding an air conditioning and heating system to my den. So he said, OK, and told me he would call someone over. Their salesperson showed up and we talked for a bit before coming out and telling me it would cost around ten thousand dollars for the addition. He told me what it was going to be, the name of the system, and everything. This was a Tuesday and we decided on a Thursday install. I slept on it and I realized I wasn't comfortable with the situation. I went online and researched the system and how much it would cost, only to find out it was half of what I would be charged if I went with Minuteman. So I called them and canceled the installation.
Fast forward about six months, and I call them up because my system stopped working. The tech comes in and tells me about the relay switch, which will automatically shut off the system if it gets backed up. So, he drained it, tried it, and it kicked right back up. It stayed good for a few days before doing it again. I called them back and was told I would be charged again for the visit. The next tech told me the system stopped not because of the water being backed up, but rather the refrigerant. He was sure it was low so he checked it but found it was over-filled. I said he could just leave it since it will settle, but he said it could cause various issues. I asked for the price and decided to let him do what he needed to do for almost two hundred dollars.
The system stopped again. By this point I was hot, and after I called them again, I was told it would be another eighty-nine dollars for another tech to come out. I researched the situation I was having, and it turns out the first tech drained the system but did not flush the pipes out. They needed to come back out to do what needed to be done, but instead, I was given the runaround. This should all have been part of the maintenance contract.
The third tech came out, and he was fabulous! I met him at the door and told him I was mad. I wasn't mad at him, but rather at the company, and I proceeded to inform him of the situation, along with what had and hadn't been done. I told him I wasn't going to pay anything extra, as this all should have been covered as part of the original visit when the system first stopped. He told me I was correct and proceeded to do what needed to be done. He drained the system and flushed out the pipes, making sure they were cleared and emptied. He said it was done, and that was it.
Apparently, he's the tech that gets sent out when there's a big problem, but this wasn't a big problem. This was him finishing the job that should've been done originally. I was very pleased with him and his work, but I am not happy with Minuteman, and I will not deal with them again. From the salesperson to the first two workers that came out, and I paid for, when my issue started, I felt like they only care about the bottom line, and not about helping out their customers.
