The facility is immaculate!

I am very happy using Award Self Storage, now that my situation was resolved. I would recommend them to others but letting them know to be aware. I think that the property is immaculate and fabulous space. When I first went in to sign all of my paperwork to get my unit I was not expecting them to require rental insurance "before" I could get the space. I already have renter's insurance on my apartment which would cover storage. I did not bring my papers with me that day to the facility. Meanwhile, the manager had me sign the sheet that said I would have to buy their insurance for eight dollars per month. They really pushed me hard to get me to sign it or I could not use the storage until I did. I went ahead and signed it with the idea that I could bring back my proof of insurance and they would take off the charge. I did not see if that insurance is actually a requirement or not. When I arrived back with my paperwork and proof of insurance no one could figure out how to credit back the eight dollars on my account. None of the staff could figure out how to remove the fee. They did not know the computer system well enough. They all seemed to not be well trained and rather archaic when it came to computers. It was not a good experience for me because I had to return back three or four times hoping that someone would figure out how to credit back my account. Finally, the manager had to credit the eight dollars and took care of it. The people were very nice but again, it does not seem like any of them were well trained. The matter has been resolved and now I am happy using the facility.

Hi Kyran - I'm glad everything got resolved. I checked into your situation. Our rental staff can't make the credit to your account - it takes a manager. Unfortunately he was on vacation for a few days while this was going on. Our Tenant Protection Plan is not required - but it is recommended and most people do purchase it. I'm glad everything worked out well and we will do everything we can to regain your confidence. Thanks for your review!
