Problem not solved

McCormick Electric was prompt and the technician was courteous however the electrical problem was not solved and it was recommended that I get a whole house inspection for over $400 and an entire day of a technician at the house. After talking to a handy man who is not an electrician he figured out the problem over the phone with me, came out and in 10 minutes I had my electrical outage resolved. I will need an electrician out to rewire a certain area and it will not be McCormick. I felt they were just trying to get me to spend money on something not needed.

Joan, Sorry to hear the experience you had. We and our technicians try to make the best recommendations for our clients. After reviewing the notes on your visit I see there may have been some confusion and we have worked with our Technician to make sure there is clarity on his future service visits. What was recommended was a diagnostic that no matter how long it took the technician to find the problem there would have been no additional charge. Sounds like if the handyman found the problem is was a relatively simple find and repair to which we would have been more than happy to discount our standard diagnostic and repair charge. The thing that worries me the most is having a Handyman doing electrical repairs. Handyman are not typically licensed nor insured to do electrical repairs in the event something goes wrong maybe not on the visit that day but if his repair was not proper or he overlooked something and something catastrophic happens there is no protection for you or your home. Unfortunately licensing, insurance, and trained electricians are not cheap but we never want to apologize for an unsafe situation by sacrificing any of our standards. Again we are sorry you were not completely satisfied.
