Too elite?
As a new home owner, I was looking for a review of the setup of my furnace and its functioning. The technician was very polite, seemed knowledgeable, and did a thorough review. His recommendation was to replace a part that possibly was cracked which could explain why there was evidence of previous water leakage. Price: $2300. Also, to be safe, a pan should be installed under the furnace, in case the new part would also leak. Price: $1200. When I asked what a new furnace would cost, he set me up with an "advisor" the next day. Long story short, a new furnace would cost upwards of $6000 to start. Adding a heat pump would be even better ($5000+). The savings would be earned back in 10-15 years. Needless to say, I thanked them for their advice. When I explained to the advisor that I felt like they were suggesting elite options to regular people, he took offence.
