Overall good experience
Beams Music Studio is basically the only place in town where I can go to pick up strings without having to make the drive to Lancaster. It's the most convenient for me to get to, so that part is nice.
Originally, I went in to get the input jack fixed on my on a guitar and its been there 2 months so far. If I had the parts, I could fix it myself in 3 minutes. They recently moved so I thought they were dealing with moving issues but he still has it. I'm not a huge rush, but its been a while for a simple input jack repair.
Other than this event though, I like the guy that works there. He's knowledgeable, plays guitars and a whole bunch of other instruments. Anytime I need a gig, he always has phone numbers to people I can contact and has solid connections to venues. He's very helpful and knows the local music scene.
If I could improve something, I would expand their musical equipment offering. It isn't has big as I'd like. For example, their alternative instrument choices ukuleles and banjos. The price is also a bit high. A pack of strings here is about $12, compared to the average $6 I usually get at other places. The only reason I don't go to Lancaster is because it's is far.
With that being said, he's doing really good for small biz owner. I wouldn't come down on him too hard. I'd definitely continue to give this place my business.
