Good work... when they eventually came

My furnace broke down. From the previous homeowners it had an Auchinahie sticker on it, so I called them. They said they had a cancellation and would be out that same day. This was at 8 AM. At around noon I called them to get an ETA and they said it would be sometime that afternoon and they would call me with a half hour advance notice. At 4:30 PM they called me to let me know it ended up I wouldn't have someone coming out until the next day, unless I wanted to pay extra for a visit after 5. They promised the person would be there first thing in the morning the next day, and they were.

The experience the next day was satisfactory. The workers were friendly, straight forward with pricing of a few different options, and made recommendations that were not for the option that would make them the most money but rather for the solution best for my house (with quality explanations of the pros and cons of each solution). They set up a service date for everything to be completed that next Monday (this was on Thursday).

That Friday, I got a call from the office to set up an appointment for Tuesday. I respectfully told them that when I made the decision to go with them, I was told Monday, and with the temperatures now getting pretty cold I would appreciate if they stuck to that. I was informed that was not possible because they were booked. I complained that they should not have told me Monday if they couldn't fulfill their promise, and the representative said "You're right, I'm sorry, but we can't have anyone there until Tuesday." I informed her I could not be around Tuesday morning, and they needed to honor their promise of a Monday service date. She said that they couldn't, but they could do Wednesday instead (keep in mind forecasts were showing lows around 25°F Tuesday, and things were already set back a day by their initial failure to come when they claimed they would). While on the phone I checked my copy of the contract. Unfortunately, the territorial manager who had promised a Monday service date had not written it down, so I had no proof. I settled for Tuesday but told them their men would have to be here by 8:30 and I would be gone for a few hours in the morning. They said that was fine and we set up for service on Tuesday.

When they came, the workers were again friendly, and got everything fixed up that day. The service was good, but not in the promised time span. My recommendation to anyone who uses this company is that if you want them to follow through on their promises of timeliness, make sure the contract specifies the service date before you sign it. If I ever have to use them again, I know that I will.
